Legislative Update: Feb 6, 2007

First thing this morning I picked up this week's Legislative Gazette and was thrilled to see our first ad on page 5.  The size is just right and stands out nicely.  I had seven appointments with Democratic Senators, most of whom are members of the Transportation Committee. The Senate was called into session at 10 AM so I met with staff for several of those appointments.  Nothing unusual, this happens often.  Apparently, the Assembly Transportation Committee meeting that was supposed to take place last week, didn't, and the committee met for the first time today.  I was able to be at this meeting, and even though none of our bills were on the agenda, I like to put in an appearance at these meetings when I can. I spoke to Assemblywoman Lupardo who will try and get her confiscation bill (# A1939) onto a committee agenda soon.

I also stopped at the office of Assemblyman Lavelle and offered our condolences on his passing.  Earlier this week I sent a sympathy card to Assemblywoman Sayward regarding the tragic death of her son in a motorcycle accident.  The Senate version of the helmet amendment still is not in print and has not been assigned a number.  If this hasn't changed by next Tuesday I'll stop in to Senator Nozzolio's office and see if I can find out why.  There is still no resolution to the comptroller situation, so the ripple effect of that issue is on going.  Thus far, I have six appointments for next Tuesday, and one for the 27th (they are off on the 20th), and I'm once again waiting for several callbacks, so hopefully, I'll be able to add to those numbers by week's end.
