Legislative Update: April 17, 2007

By: Prospector

Well, it was back to work today  and, unfortunately, the large groups are still  packing the halls of the LOB, guess they haven't heard the budget's done. Today it was the Transport Workers, a nurse's union, and several school groups.

I started the day with 6 appointments with Assembly Members, and one had to be rescheduled.  I met with Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco's Transportation Analyst and had a productive discussion. The Assemblyman has been a supporter for some time, so the visit was as much appreciation as information.

There are 3 new Assembly Members, 2 of whom I made appointments with for next Tuesday and I'm waiting for a call-back from the third.  There are still several open seats in the Assembly, which will be filled by special election, and I'm watching those districts so I can meet with them as soon as they arrive in Albany.

The Assembly Transportation Committee met today, but none of our bills were on the agenda.     I also met with Assemblyman Richard Brodsky who has long been a friend and supporter and he agreed to sign on to A1939, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo's bill.
