Legislative Update: May 9, 2006By: Prospector |

| Today I shifted gears and concentrated entirely on the Senate side. In some ways the Senate is easier to work with than the Assembly, and in some ways, more difficult. In any event, it's a different animal. One noticeable difference is that most Senators seem more reluctant to give a face-to-face committment on an issue and so they tend to keep me a bit off balance. However, I did get two pledges of support for S34101 & S62292. The others all seemed agreeable, but no solid promises. Oh well, that's the nature of the Senate and we just have to roll with the flow. Another difference is that it's a bit more of a process to get an appointment, for the most part they don't make one on the spot as the Assembly will do, insisting instead that they need to call me in a few days. Consequently, my schedule isn't yet full for next Tuesday, but I'm waiting for 9 or 10 call-backs to fill in the gaps. Again, nothing new, so we adjust accordingly. Both the Senate and Assembly Transportation Committees met today, but since none of our bills were on either agenda, there was no need to attend. Everybody is looking foward to the Freedom Rally next Monday, so I hope attendance is good, this is our big legislative event and we need to keep it growing. A number of people in the Legislative Office Building are calling it a tradition.
